Coming Persecution To America - Paul Washer

"This is not silly talk" ~ Paul Washer

Do you believe brother Paul? Here is just a couple of examples of what has gone on in our country in just the last month.

I'm Sick of Works Righteous Legalism! Beware of Joyce Meyer

I feel better now that I've said that. Many immature Christian women are prone to think they can earn points with God. I know this because I was in that trap myself. The Bible says there is none righteous and our works are like filthy rags to God. Joyce Meyer may be an extreme example with her health and wealth teaching, but other teachers such as Beth Moore use the same works righteousness approach with Christianese feminism and extra-biblical fulfillment.

“Discernment is not simply a matter of telling the difference between what is right and wrong; rather it is the difference between right and almost right.” -Charles Spurgeon.

Spurgeon's Method

We declare, upon Scriptural authority, that the human will is so desperately set on mischief, so depraved, and so inclined to everything that is evil, and so disinclined to everything that is good, that without the powerful, supernatural, irresistible influence of the Holy Spirit, no human will ever be constrained towards Christ.

Divided the Movie (Repost)

I recommend watching this documentary which brings up the question; why do we have age segregated programs, particularly youth groups?

Just a disclaimer: I'm not against church programs and youth groups. My kids and myself attend and benefit from them. The problem is that more often than not, an extra-biblical ministry like youth groups, Sunday school, etc. is supplanted by a biblical mandate for the parents to teach their own children.  (Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Psalms 127:3-5, Proverbs 1:8-9,  Proverbs 22:6, Proverbs 23:22, Joshua 24:15,  Malachi 4:6, Collosians 3:20, Ephesians 6:1-2) These programs provide an easy alternative for parents to pass off their biblical responsibility to teach their own children.

What this movie did for me was convict me as a parent and as a member of a church. It helped me understand why there maybe a lack of multi-generational connection and discipleship in most churches. (Titus 2)

I wish the movie went further and discussed the separation of other age groups such as college students, young families and much needed senior citizens. Having subcultures within the body of believers is not what was intended in scripture.

As the documentary closes (A little bitty spoiler), it addresses the need of hospitality with unchurched and fatherless youth rather than bring them in a group of immature teens (Proverbs 13:30). I realized after watching this why there may be a lack of genuine hospitality within many churches. Perhaps since there is always somewhere to go every week, there is no need and time; something to think about.

Make yourself comfortable for one hour. Whether you agree with this movie or not, there is much to glean from it. The young Leclerc Brothers did an outstanding job with this piece.

The Uncoverted In Churches ~ Surph's Side

"The most persecuted people in the church, in my opinion and observation, are those who are trying to hold the bride of Christ to a true biblical standard. What a shame! Today pastors are centering more on getting people to come and stay in their churches that they forget that God wants His bride holy. The church was never intended to camp unbelievers." - Susan Brackley

Concerns with "Created To Be His Help Meet" - Book Review By Tim Challies

I read, reread and reread at least five more times this book when it first came out eight years ago. I loved Debi Pearl's hard hitting tough love approach. I felt convicted at every turn of the page and was motivated like never before to be a better wife. I also gave copies to other women.

After a period of time, I became frustrated that I was not able to do what was commanded, so I put the book away in defeat and shame.

I recently dug out my my wrinkled, marked, highlighted copy of Created To Be His Help Meet stuffed deep in my drawer. It had been a few years since I read it, and I've grown more in knowledge of Christian doctrine in that time. I was shocked at all of the over use of law, lack of grace and harsh legalism. I immediately closed the book and shared my concerns with a close friend.

Tim Challies (A well known Christian book reviewer) did his own review and my concerns are validated.

"We see her graceless, legalistic God in words like these, taken from the book’s final pages: “God is awesome and terrible in his judgments. He is also full of mercy, and of grace. His strong desire is to bless his people, but too often by our ‘carelessness,’ we force him to judge. I believe he wearies of judgment.” Pearl presents a God who offers mercy and grace only to those who please him. To the rest there is judgment. This is a God who reacts to our every careless or thoughtful deed with anger and judgment. He is gracious only when we do what he demands, only when we earn his favor. And this means, of course, he is not a good of mercy and grace at all, not when his favor must be merited."
